Once again, Alain Welter put his skills to the test on a seriously long canvas — this time stretching across 150 meters.

But instead of simply painting one continuous mural, Alain went back to basics. Inspired by the principle of classic stop-motion animation, the wall is made up of 92 individually sprayed frames. Pass by at the right speed and the static images suddenly come to life, turning the entire wall into one giant analog animation.

No screens. No projections. Just paint, repetition and a lot of patience.

The mural revolves around the theme of Soft Mobility, brought to life through Alain’s unmistakable visual universe. Familiar faces such as his alter ego, the mouse, alongside the toad and the bird, move from frame to frame — creating a playful sequence that only reveals its full effect once you are in motion yourself.

With 92 characters across 92 frames and 150 meters of wall, the project plays somewhere between mural painting, animation and an oversized flipbook.

A mural that doesn’t just show movement — it needs movement to be seen.
