Commissioned by Esch2022, the European Capital of Culture, along with TICE, Alain Welter designed his biggest digital project to date, namely six articulated buses, with a length of 18 meters and four standard buses measuring 12 meters.
The design illustrates the language, architectural characteristics and the history of the south-western region of the country, the Minett (Red Lands). Therefore, the colour palette bases on the Red of the Minett in combination with the colour tones of Esch2022. Key elements are the steel industry and mine workers as well as the typical townhouses paired with phrases used in the South of the country (yes, Luxembourg is tiny, but has different dialects and sayings depending on the region).
The buses will cruise through the Esch2022 region over the coming year to connect the participating villages of the European Capital of Culture. Get on board and support sustainable mobility!
