Hier kommt der Mope

Luxembourg, December 2025

For Christmas 2025, Alain Welter (MOPE) is introducing a project that brings his work into an entirely new dimension: a limited collection of handcrafted rugs, made start to finish here in Luxembourg.

Alain teamed up with the local hoophouse Zaeren (@rugged) – the place where each rug was tufted by hand. Together, they created a series of 10 unique pieces, each one taking around 15 hours of focused craftsmanship.

Throughout the process, we documented every moment: from the first projected outline to the final trimming that gives each rug its clean, sculpted look.

Every finished piece carries the (rugged x Alain Welter 1/10) label, marking it as a true one-of-a-kind artwork.

With "Hier kommt der MOPE", Alain brings his familiar visual language into a tactile medium, turning illustrations into objects that can be lived with and experienced up close.
